![]() Artistic expression is my passion. I mainly work with acrylics, oils or watercolors, depending on subject matter and surface, as fabric, furniture, wood and even rocks can be just as suitable as canvas or paper. A background of art classes in school, seminars and a mid 80's award of Promising Artist of the Year, combined with my 1992 move to Antigua, inspired me to paint on a more serious level. The vibrant island scenery, flora and fauna influence much of my work, although I do derive a wry bit of satisfaction painting a snow scene in 85 degrees. My quirky side is expressed in papier mache` The Watchdog, a 3' high dog covered in pictures of watches and the 3 foot long Aristo-cat, covered with pictures of jewelery, are soon to be joined by other fun creations... keep checking site from mid-June for them. An exhibit with my friend Gabie entitled "Canvases Revisited" allowed me the opportunity to go inside the creative minds of artists I admire such as Georgia O'Keeffe and Henri Matisse, with an homage to honour some of their brilliant paintings. A bonus from this was bringing back my love of pseudo-abstract, not stripes and cubes, but real subjects with different twists. My work can be seen in Antigua at Woods Gallery, Harmony Hall, Best of Books-Made in Antigua, The Museum of Antigua & Barbuda and, from mid-May, at the Grand Bay Casino at Sandals. A good place to find me and samples of my work is The Chippyantigua fish & chips van in Dickenson Bay on Wed or Fri 4 to 9pm. Private and commercial commissions are an integral part of my art. The 2007 opening of Buccaneer Beach Club-Antigua presented a great challenge to create 108 originals of Caribbean subjects. Current commercial project is totally different...a very abstract design for The Gold Bar at the casino watch site for details. I hope you enjoy browsing through my gallery. If you wish to purchase a painting, you may select from the many shown or it would be my pleasure to work with you to create your personal work of art. It will arrive in a tube, just unroll, put on stretchers for an informal look or frame it... either way you have affordable original art. Please contact me for inquiries and prices.
